All-Region Honors Announced for Women's Soccer;
Janine Dennis Selected as Region 19 Player of the Year

West Windsor, N.J. – The honors keep on coming for Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) women’s soccer team. This season's most notable standout is sophomore forward Janine Dennis (St. Andrews, Jamaica, The Queens School), who was named the Region 19 Player of the Year on Oct. 17.
Dennis is currently sixth in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I women’s soccer in goals scored with 25 on the season and sixth in points with 56 in 12 games played. Dennis has twice been named the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Player of the Week
for her offensive efforts. In addition to several hat tricks, she has scored four goals in three separate games: in an 11-0 rout over Lackawanna, a 7-3 win over Sussex, and a 6-1 win against Community College of Rhode Island.
All-Region 19 honors were announced this week. Joining Dennis on the All-Region First Team were sophomore defender Kendal Parah (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and freshman midfielder Marissa Reed (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham). Freshman midfielder Jackie Gummel (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) was named to the All-Region Second Team. The team was anchored in goal by Shaunice Palms, who was named both the NJCAA Division I and the GSAC Goalie of the Week in September.
The Vikings close out their regular season with a home game vs. Cumberland tomorrow, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
With a record of 12-3, the Vikings are the no. 1 seed as they enter the Region 19 playoffs. Mercer will play at home in a region semifinal game on Wednesday, Oct. 26. (Opponent and time to be announced.) The semifinal winners will vie for the Region 19 title at the Mercer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 29. Game time is 11 a.m.
