'Roebling' Opens Tonight at Kelsey Theatre
It’s a quintessentially American story of perseverance against all odds, one that features Trenton’s most famous family. By special invitation, Theater To Go presents “Roebling: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge” at Kelsey Theatre for one weekend only, opening tonight with additional performances on Saturday and Sunday. Athletics Department Sponsors Food Drive Nov. 8 to Dec. 12
The MCCC Athletics Department and the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) will sponsor a holiday food drive for Mercer Street Friends Food Bank from Nov. 8 to Dec. 12. Admission is free to the Nov. 22 and Dec. 3 men's and women's basketball games with a food donation. Non-perishable food items (no glass items please) will be collected in the Fitness Center and in a donation box in front of the Athletics Office in the PE Building. State Police Hiring Lecture is Nov. 14
The NJ State Police will be on the West Windsor Campus on Monday, Nov. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in CM109 for an information session on the department's hiring process. The public is invited to attend. The lecture will provide an overview of the NJ State Police, the career paths, and minimum hiring requirements. Free Forum on Youth Poverty Nov. 14
The Princeton Area Community Foundation invites Mercer faculty and staff to a free conference, "A Forum for Action: Creating A Future Where All Children Thrive," on Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Conference Center at Mercer. The forum is designed as a chance for participants to share their expertise and experience dealing with children and adolescents living in poverty. Goals include the designing of new initiatives and grant guidelines. To register or for more information, click here.

MCCC to Observe International Education Week Nov. 14 to 18
Mercer is celebrating International Education Week next week with a series of lectures, open class forums, discussions, and the grand opening of the new Center for Global Opportunities (GO!). Collection of Hygiene Items for TASK Extended to Nov. 16
MCCC's Phi Theta Kappa and the Muslim Student Association have extended their deadline for the collection of hygiene items for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen to Nov. 16. TASK is especially in need of socks and snacks. Other items needed include: toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath soap, men’s deodorant, men’s razors, shampoo, conditioner, tampons/sanitary napkins, washcloths, socks, Tums, ibuprofen, etc. Place your donations in the marked boxes located in the Transfer Office (SC201), in front of Financial Aid, or in front of the Student Life and Leadership office. Monetary donations are also accepted.

L.E.A.D. 'People and Pets' Food Drive Ends Nov. 17
The L.E.A.D. Program and the Student Life and Leadership Office are hosting a food drive ending on Nov. 17. The goal is to provide Meals on Wheels of Mercer County with enough food for 250 Blizzard Bags to help residents and their pets during the winter months.  Donation boxes are located in SC111 at the West Windsor Campus and in the Commons Area at the James Kerney Campus. Deadline for Hospitality Club Pie Sale Orders is Nov. 14
There is still time to order holiday pies through the Hospitality Club -- last day to order is Monday, Nov. 14. Orders must be placed and paid for no later than 4 p.m. Pies are $12 each, or $10 each if you order two or more. Choose from pumpkin, sweet potato, apple, chocolate cream and pecan. Pick up is Tuesday, Nov. 22 between noon and 3 p.m. in ES111. Questions? Contact Frank Benowitz at benowitf@mccc.edu.

Kelsey is Toys for Tots Drop-Off Through Dec. 12
Kelsey Theatre is an official drop-off site for the Marine's Toys for Tots annual holiday drive. Staff members are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys in the drop box located in the Kelsey Theatre lobby. Donations will be accepted through Monday, Dec. 12.

Television Students ‘Dish It Out’ from New Mobile Production Unit
Television and Digital Film students in the Applied Field Production course at Mercer are getting deeper into their field and taking the show on the road. Thanks to funding from Dow Jones, a production truck that was donated to the college by PVI Virtual Media Services has been fully equipped for prime time. Read more here.

Women's Cross Country to Run at Nationals Tomorrow
It was a total team effort as the Mercer women’s cross country team took home the Region 19 title on Oct. 30 at Branch Brook Park in Newark. The team left for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I Championships in El Dorado, KS, yesterday, with the big race to take place Saturday, Nov. 12. Read more here.

Solid Season for Men’s Soccer Ends on a Goal in Semifinal Round
Making it to the semifinal round of a regional tournament might be a decent season for some community college men's soccer programs. But at MCCC, the goal is always the Region 19 title and beyond. The men did not achieve their goal this year, but there were still many bright spots for the 2016 squad. Read more here.

Although clearly disappointed with the Vikings’ early exit in the semifinal round of the Region 19 tournament on Oct. 26, Elyse Diamond is feeling good about MCCC and the Vikings women's soccer team after completing her first season as head coach. Read more here.

Nov. 23: Philosophy Club Civil Discourse Series Continues. The Philosophy S.P.A. Club continues its Civil Discourse Series with "Disingenuous Gray Areas and Virtuous Vagueness" on Nov. 23. The group meets on Wednesdays in LA213 from noon to 1 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are all invited to join the conversation. The final discussion for the fall semester, "The Demarcation Problem: Science or Pseudoscience?" is Nov. 30.

Through Dec. 1: 'Magic' Exhibit at The Gallery. Eight artists define magic on their own terms in the exhibit “Magic,” at the Gallery at Mercer. The show will be on display through Thursday, Dec. 1. Read more here.

Through Dec. 14: Two Student Restaurants Serving Lunch. The "Miserable Sods” student restaurant is open on Tuesdays, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29. Check out the menu here. The American Regional class continues its service on Wednesdays with Louisiana specialties Nov. 16. See the menu here. Their restaurant continues with California cuisine Nov, 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. (Menu to come.) Tickets for both restaurants are available at the Bursar's Office and must be purchased in advance. The dining room is located in ES111, with seating from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for staff, and $12 for guests. Tables of six or less only please! Through Dec. 14: MCCC Exercise Classes. Faculty and staff are invited to join with students for evening yoga classes on Mondays through Dec. 12, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in PE225; Zumba on Tuesdays through Dec. 13, noon to 1 p.m. in the gym; and lunchtime yoga on Wednesdays through Dec. 14, also from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym, and taught by our very own Helen Tanzini, Professor of Chemistry. (Bring your own mat for yoga.) No classes will be held during the week of Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 21-25).
