Can I use an e-mail client, such as Outlook Express, to read my MercerMail?

1. How do I get a MercerMail account?
If you were enrolled in at least one credit class at MCCC for the Spring 2008 semester and/or registered for a Summer 2008 class before March 25, 2008, you already have a MercerMail account set up for you, and may access it immediately through the MercerMail introduction page.
Otherwise, you will automatically receive your MercerMail account when you register for at least one credit class at Mercer County Community College.

2. What features are available in the MercerMail system?
Web-based access to e-mail allows for easy access from any computer with Internet access and a web browser. Integrated e-mail features include spell check, folder functionality and rule management, configurable e-mail filters, incoming and outgoing virus scan, and an anti-spam mechanism. There is also an instant messaging window right in the e-mail browser. There are no banners or advertisements. A full 2 Gigabits of storage allows you to store more messages and documents.
Personalized Start Page allows easy access to your inbox, calendar, and documents. Plus, you can add a lot of tools and fun free stuff to your page.
Google Calendar allows you to organize your schedule and share calendars with others including anyone having a non-Mercer Gmail account and calendar.
Google Documents allows you to store, access, and share documents from anywhere with an Internet connection.

3. When will my new MercerMail account be available?
If you were enrolled in at least one credit class for the Spring 2008 semester and/or registered for a Summer 2008 class before March 25, 2008, you may access your MercerMail account immediately through the MercerMail introduction page.
Otherwise, a new MercerMail account (accessible through the MercerMail introduction page) will automatically be created for you within approximately 7 days after you have registered for at least one credit class at Mercer.
Your MercerMail account will remain active and will only expire after 4 consecutive Spring and Fall semesters in which you have not registered for any credit classes.

4. How do I access my MercerMail account?
MercerMail is available from anywhere you have access to the Internet and a web browser. You can access your e-mail from the MercerMail link on MCCC's home page at www.mccc.edu. You can also access mail by logging in through your student portal and following the provided e-mail link, or by clicking here.

5. How do I find my assigned e-mail address, user name, and password for MercerMail?
Refer to the "Your MercerMail Account" presentation on the MercerMail introduction page.

6. Where can I get help using the Google Applications?
Go to the Google Apps Help Site for frequently asked questions updated daily by Google product experts, tutorial videos of key features, user-interface screenshots, active discussion groups, and more.
In the unlikely event you are unable to find the information you need from Google's Help Site, you may submit a request for assistance from MCCC.

Submit a request to have your username verified and your password reset.

8. Can I use any password I want?
Your initial password is set to your birth date in yyyymmdd (YearMonthDay) format. For example: February 13, 1980 would be 19800213. 12. Am I required to use my MercerMail account?
Utilizing your MercerMail account guarantees that you will receive notices and messages sent by Mercer County Community College.
It is up to the individual user to decide whether or not they would like to use the web interface through Google with all of the included features or simply have all e-mail arriving at their MercerMail account automatically forward to another personal e-mail account (Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc.). If you prefer to have your MercerMail forward automatically, please refer to the instructions below.
