ABOUT THE PRODUCTION: The Rocky Horror Show premiered in London in 1973, and spawned a 1975 film (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) that has become a late-night interactive sensation in the intervening years. Its story, a send-up of B-horror movies, is as old as time; Boy meets Girl; Boy and Girl fall in love; Boy and Girl get engaged; Boy and Girl are trapped in gothic castle by a transvestite alien mad scientist, his servants, and the unfrozen corpse of his former lover; Boy and Girl watch in amazement as transvestite creates bodybuilder from scratch. Also, the Time Warp.
ABOUT THE ROLES: The production is seeking a total of 13 performers, including 4 adult males, 3 adult females, and 6 actors of either gender. All roles are open, and will be cast from this audition and callback audition(s) as required. Please note: Due to the adult nature of the material, only actors 18 years of age or older can be considered for roles in this production.
DR. FRANK-N-FURTER (male, strong high rock baritone, reads age 35+): Well, he’s a scientist. He’s brilliant. And yes, he goes a bit mad now and then, but don’t we all, once in a while? He’s a little evil, but only a little. He’s voracious in appetite for all things, dynamic, self-absorbed, highly sentimental, energetic, and a surprisingly good dancer. Oh, and he absolutely rocks a corset and fishnets. RIFF RAFF (male, high rock tenor, reads any age): Frank’s henchman/butler. In another situation, he’d be running the show, but at the Frank-N-Furter place he has the supreme misfortune to be an evil genius living the shadow of a somewhat-less-evil somewhat-more-geniusy evil genius. As a result, he left sanity behind long ago. Possible approaches to this character will vary as widely as the actors who have played him, but they all must sing very high, very loud, and with an awful lot of energy. MAGENTA (female, mezzo-soprano with very strong, high rock belt, reads any age): Riff Raff’s female counterpart, she has no great designs on being an evil genius. Magenta is an adrenaline junkie, wild and impulsive; her entire life is a long and confusing party. She serves Frank-N-Furter not of any great loyalty, but because it seems more exciting than, say, working retail. Doubles as an Usherette in the opening number (“Science Fiction, Double Feature”). COLUMBIA (female, mezzo-soprano with rock belt, reads any age): The third of Frank’s servants, she is – unlike Frank, Riff Raff, and Magenta – a human being and not an alien, but she’s spent so much time at Castle Frank-N-Furter that she may not remember the difference. Columbia is the former lover of both Frank and Eddie the Undead Biker; she may also be the former lover of The Narrator, for all we know, because Columbia has a lot of love to give. She is given to wild mood swings, with periods of cool interrupted by enormous displays of excessive emotion and periodic tap dancing (strong tap dancer preferred). JANET WEISS (female, mezzo-soprano with rock belt, reads 20-30): Our heroine. Janet is pretty, sheltered, and a little spoiled. She is a layer of repression piled on top of a bit of a rebel piled on top of another layer of repression piled on top of a very great mystery. Fittingly, she spends most of the show in her underwear, but it’s very modest underwear. BRAD MAJORS (male, high baritone, reads age 20-30): Janet’s husband-to-be, he is stable, clean-cut, bordering on masculine, and, let’s face it, a little dull and repressed (at least at the outset of the show). Brad spends 60% of the show in his underwear and another 10% in a corset. Need a strong singer with a traditional, rather than rock, sound. ROCKY HORROR (male, tenor, reads age 20-30): Rocky Horror is Frank-N-Furter’s prize creation, the epitome of all things masculine, so he is built like Charles Atlas and is charming, polite, and a superior dancer, to boot. He was just born today, though, so he has the emotional maturity of an infant. Must be comfortable wearing nothing but a pair of gold underwear briefs and boots; strong dancer preferred. EDDIE/DR. SCOTT (male, tenor OR female, alto, both with a strong rock belt, reads age 30+): This role will be doubled; both parts will be played by the same actor, who may be male or female. As Eddie, he is the former lover of Frank-N-Furter, a biker who is now, unfortunately, dead; this does not stop him from singing a song, of course. As Dr. Scott, he is a wheelchair bound intellectual madman with an untraceable Eastern European accent and an evil hand straight out of Dr. Strangelove. THE NARRATOR (male or female, no singing, reads any age): The Rocky Horror show’s Master of Ceremonies may be played by anyone; (s)he doesn’t even need to sing or dance. However, the Narrator must be extremely adept at controlled improvisation and audience interaction. PHANTOMS (4): The four Phantoms will serve as the show’s chorus, and thus be used in multiple capacities throughout the production. They may be male or female, but in either case should be good dancers with a strong sense of vocal harmony. PERFORMANCE DATES: Friday, October 31, 2008 (8pm & Midnight) Saturday, November 1, 2008 (8pm) Sunday, November 2, 2008 (2pm) Friday, November 7, 2008 (8pm) Saturday, November 8, 2008 (8pm & Midnight) Sunday, November 9, 2008 (2pm) DAMES AT SEA PIERROT PRODUCTIONS Sunday, August 17th, with appointments beginning at noon.

JOAN– mezzo – tap required -- Age 20s-early 30s RUBY– mezzo – tap required -- Age 18-28 – the ingénue, new in town with dreams of becoming a Broadway star – this was the first noteworthy role for Bernadette Peters in 1968, and was the one which catapulted her to stardom. SONGS (some also have reprises): Wall Street - Mona It's You - Dick & Ruby ABOUT REHEARSALS: While we are beginning the casting process now, rehearsals will not begin until after Labor Day. ABOUT THE PLAY: Overcome with the excitement and not having eaten for 3 days, Ruby faints into the arms of Dick, a handsome sailor. Ruby and Dick fall instantly in love, and Dick composes a love song for her on the spot. Devious Mona, attracted by both Dick’s music and looks, starts flirting with him, to get one of his songs for herself. Dick's fellow sailor, Lucky, turns out to be a former boyfriend of Joan, and their earlier attraction gets rekindled. Bad news arrives when Hennessey rushes in with word that the theatre has been sold and is scheduled for demolition. Undaunted, the sturdy troupers sing as they pack up their belongings and the bulldozers move in. Dick and Lucky hit on a brilliant idea to save the show: persuade their Captain to allow it to be presented on the deck of their battleship. They present the idea as a solution to the problems caused by the lack of girls onboard, but that doesn’t convince the Captain. However, when he finds that the show stars Mona, a former flame of his, he finally gives in. Still trying to get a hit song from Dick, Mona puts the moves on him, but Ruby walks in and misunderstands. Plunged into the blackest despair, she pours out her feelings. Just before opening, Mona becomes seasick and has to retire to the Captain's cabin. Who could possibly replace the star at such short notice? Ruby, of course! The plucky girl goes on and wows the audience. Dick showers her with congratulations, they kiss and make up, and there’s nothing else to do but for them to marry. Joan and Lucky, and Mona and the Captain refuse to be left out, so the show ends with a triple wedding and a 21-gun salute.
