NUR 101 - Nursing I (7 credits)
Corequisites: BIO 103, CHE 107, MAT 135
Introduction of concepts and knowledge from the social, psychological and physical sciences, as well as skills necessary to meet the basic needs of all clients. Using the nursing process as a framework for care delivery, involves clinical experiences planned in area health care agencies. 3 lecture/4 college laboratory/90 clinical hours

NUR 112 - Nursing II (8 credits)
Prerequisites: BIO 103, NUR 101 with a minimum C grade
Continuation of the concepts, knowledge and skills introduced in NUR 101 with an emphasis on meeting the nursing needs of clients with common health problems, including care during the childbearing cycle. Involves selected clinical experiences in hospitals and health care agencies. 3 lecture/2 college laboratory/180 clinical hours

NUR 121 - Nursing I Review (5 credits)
Prerequisite: NUR 101
Designed for students who have completed Nursing I and who wish to review its content before undertaking Nursing II. [Does not include clinical instruction and does not meet any requirements for the Nursing degree.] 3 lecture/4 laboratory hours

NUR 122 - Nursing II Review (4 credits)
Prerequisite: NUR 112
Designed for students who have completed Nursing II and who wish to review its content before undertaking Nursing III. [Does not include clinical instruction and does not meet any requirements for the Nursing degree.] 3 lecture/2 laboratory hours

NUR 151 - Pharmacology in Nursing (3 credits)
Prerequisite: NUR 112 or permission of instructor
Theoretical approach to pharmacology, expanding basic concepts of drug knowledge required to administer medication safely. Emphasizes pharmacology as an integrated science requiring up-to-date information consistent with current nursing responsibilities, technology, and practice. Drug therapies affecting body systems are a major consideration. 3 lecture hours

NUR 176 - LPN Advanced Placement II (1 credit)
Prerequisites: BIO 103, BIO 104, BIO 201, CHE 107, NUR 175
Provides an opportunity for the licensed practical nurse (LPN) to review content, demonstrate competency, and receive credit for NUR 112. Activities and requirements include a nursing care plan, skills assessment, clinical evaluation, and satisfactory performance on the Excelsior Maternity and Child Care Nursing examination. 2 laboratory hours

NUR 201 - Nursing III (8 credits)
Prerequisites: NUR 112, BIO 104, BIO 201, CHE 107 Emphasizes the further application of knowledge from the social, psychological and physical sciences to nursing care of clients of all ages with acute and complex nursing needs. Continues the development of nursing skills through clinical experiences in medical-surgical, pediatric and psychiatric facilities. 3 lecture/2 college laboratory/180 clinical hours

NUR 202 - Nursing IV (8 credits)
Prerequisite: NUR 201 Continuation of NUR 201 with emphasis on the client who requires some permanent modification of lifestyle in order to achieve or maintain optimal health. Includes development of management and delegation skills, plus clinical experiences in medical-surgical, pediatric and psychiatric facilities. 3 lecture/2 college laboratory/180 clinical hours

NUR 203 - Nursing V (1 credit)
Prerequisite: NUR 201
Corequisite: NUR 202
Assists the student in assuming the role of the graduate nurse. Addresses licensure, legal aspects of nursing, professional organizations, and health care delivery systems. 1 lecture hour

NUR 215 - Precepted Clinical Experience (2 credits)
Prerequisites: NUR 112 or equivalent and externship acceptance
Supervised clinical experience in conjunction with externship at an approved local healthcare facility. Designed to strengthen and broaden the competencies of second-year nursing students and enhance their knowledge of the role of the RN. Participants must be accepted into the facility's externship program. Includes periodic on-campus seminars. 0.5 seminar hours/40 clinical days
