Mercer County Artists Annual Exhibition
About the 2007 Exhibition
Mercer County Artists 2007 is a juried exhibition open to visual artists who are at
least 18 years old and who live, work, or attend school in Mercer County, NJ. The
exhibition will be held from January 22 through February 16, 2007 in The Gallery
on the West Windsor Campus
of Mercer County Community College.
This exhibition is sponsored in part through grants from the Mercer County Cultural and
Heritage Commission and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State.
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to visual artists who are at least 18 years old and who live, work, or attend school
in Mercer County, NJ.
- Up to two (2) original works in any media except photography may be entered.
- Works must have been executed in the two years since January, 2005.
- Entry fee of five dollars ($5) — cash or check payable to "Mercer County Artists 2007" — per piece must accompany entries.
- A completed entry form must accompany each entry.
Media stipulations:
- Works in all media except photography will be considered.
- 2-dimensional works may not exceed 60 inches in any direction. Work must be framed
and ready for hanging. Tape or bracket framing is not acceptable.
- 3-dimensional works (sculpture, ceramics, glass, jewelry, etc.) may not exceed 60
inches in any direction or 75 pounds in weight.
Submission of Work and Notification of Acceptance
Submission, selection of work, and pick-up of work not selected for the exhibition
takes place on the same day. All work must be submitted between 9:30 a.m. and 12
noon on Saturday, January 13, 2007 Arrangements must be made to ensure
that art work not selected is picked up that afternoon. NO EXCEPTIONS CAN BE MADE.
Entry forms must be filled out completely.
Work accompanied by incomplete forms cannot be considered. Type or print all information carefully.
A full list of accepted work (by assigned number) will be posted outside the gallery by 3:30 p.m.
on January 13, and will be listed on (609) 570-3588 after 3:45 p.m. E-mail messages will also be
sent by 4 p.m. to all artists providing e-mail addresses. These messages will indicate only the
assigned numbers of the pieces selected.

Juror
Burt Wasserman, renowned art critic writing for the Art Matters newsletter, holds degrees from Brooklyn College and Columbia University, where he received both his M.A. and Ph.D. He is a retired professor of art from Rowan University where he taught Modern Art and Art Appreciation, among other classes. His work is in public and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.
Awards
More than $1,500 in purchase and merit prizes will be awarded. Purchased work
becomes part of the permanent collection of Mercer County's Cultural and Heritage
Commission. The 5th Annual West Windsor Arts Council Prize for outstanding work by
a West Windsor artist and the Utrecht Art Supplies Best in Show prize will also be awarded.
Liability
Entries are insured from the time of delivery until the official pick-up dates (see Calendar).
The College assumes no responsibility for works left after the pick-up dates listed
in this prospectus. Works remaining after the pick-up periods will be disposed of
at the discretion of The Gallery. The College reserves the right to reproduce any
entry for publicity purposes. Submission of entries constitutes the artist's acceptance
of these terms and will be regarded as a binding contract.
Sales Commission & Insurance Value
The Gallery at MCCC retains a 25% commission on work sold.
Insurance value of a piece may not exceed sale price less the College's commission.
