Instructed by Susan R. Winter, a national certified martial arts instructor with a master's background in social work, this class is packed with important information. With Susan's experience in crisis counseling in addition to martial arts, students will receive comprehensive instruction in self-defense. Topics to be addressed include: the expected emotional and mental responses one experiences when being attacked and how to react to them; generic physical responses to the initiation of an attack; and specific physical responses based on the type of attack. Questions related to a participant's personal fears or experiences will be addressed. Come prepared to participate in physical activity and wear comfortable clothing. It must be noted that you will not be asked to participate in any learning activity that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Students will learn about the healing and transformative power of acupressure through a simple and easy to learn acupressure protocol and style of touch. This protocol can be used for self-care to reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and enhance well-being. No previous professional health training or special equipment is needed. Students will also learn and practice use of an Awareness Journal and Chakra Tai Chi, a body-mind movement self care practice. This course will instruct using the SEVA Stress Release Acupressure protocol. Students should wear comfortable clothing and socks.

Join us at the lake in Mercer County Park and experience the fun of kayaking while learning beginner and, if you choose to enhance your basic skills, intermediate kayaking. In beginner kayaking, you will learn the basics of kayaking while you will learn advanced strokes and maneuvers in intermediate kayaking.

Kayaks and life jackets are provided and those 18 years of age and older are welcome.
