Programmable Logic Controllers & Mobile Apps

 

Introduction to Automation/PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)

Basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, digital electronics and industrial controls is required. 
Comfort utilizing Microsoft Windows operating system recommended.

To be competitive in the global economy, manufacturing and service companies are examining ways to improve existing processes in order to become more efficient and reduce costs. PLC-controlled equipment enables an organization to fine-tune their operations by fully automating manufacturing processes that are currently performed manually. PLC controllers are used in energy management and monitoring systems (SCADA) to reduce electrical consumption and to network stand-alone industrial controls. Students will be introduced to basic system concepts of operation, industry terminology, dominant manufacturer brands and general product practical applications and uses. Students in this innovative training program will have the opportunity to use PLC workstations that will simulate real world tasks. Book and materials are included.

Beginning Mobile App Development with HTML5

Preferred: Some knowledge or prior experience with programming or web development.

Get your next mobile app idea started with the newest mobile development frameworks. Using a hands-on approach create simple user interfaces and set up your development environment with HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3 code. In addition, work with smart phone components like the camera and network. Note that this class will be focusing on android but the techniques learned can be applied to other platforms too. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: learn to create simple mobile apps with a user interface that can respond to basic user requests using HTML5, CSS3, AND JavaScript code. You will be introduced to the working with the smart phone storage, camera, and network. In addition learn to set up your development environment and test and debug your apps. Note that this class focuses on the Android platform but the techniques learned can be applied to other platforms too. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: learn to create simple mobile apps with a user interface that can respond to basic user requests using HTML5, CSS3, AND JavaScript code. Textbook is recommended, not required, and available in college bookstore. 1.2 CEU. Cost: $299
