Head Coach Fred Carella
Baseball
1st season

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) baseball and Fred Carella go hand in hand.

Carella, who was named as the Vikings’ Head Coach in July 2018, has been with the program since 2003. As an assistant coach under then-Head Coach Randy Voorhees, Carella and the Vikings earned a trip to the 2003 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) World Series.

He continued his tenure under head coaches Kip Harrison, Matt Wolski, and Kevin Kerins. Prior to his promotion, Carella specialized in coaching third base, hitting and outfielding.

Carella has served with teams that have won six Region 19 titles, four Northeast District titles, and four trips to the NJCAA World Series. During that time, eight Mercer players were named as NJCAA All-Americans, and six were chosen in the Major League Baseball Draft. In 2018 alone, nine Viking baseball players were named to the Region 19 All-Academic Team.

A graduate of Nottingham High School, Carella attended The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).

Additionally, Carella works as a facilities supervisor at MCCC. He currently lives in Yardley, Pa. with his wife, Mia, his daughter, Evelyn, and his son, Weston.
