Region 19 Championship

2nd Place

Lincroft, NJ -

Mercer women's cross country just missed winning their first ever Region 19 Championship, losing 27-30 to Region Champion Essex.  The Vikings had four runners earn All-Region 19 Honors and took 6 of the top 10 places in the 5K race held at Thompson Park but Essex had the top 3 runners in the race which gave them the lower score and championship win.  Sophomore Diana Taveras (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) finished 4th overall in the Division I race with a time of 20:21.  Freshman Cai-Cai Hahn (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor South) was 5th overall in 21:02, freshman Hixlayne Cuetia-Rodriguez (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor South) was 6th overall in 22:06 and Rachael Wilson (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) was 7th overall in 22:25.  Taveras, Hahn, Cuetia-Rodriguez and Wilson all earned All-Region honors for finishing in the top 7.  Two other Mercer runners also placed in the top 10 as freshman Marissa Scott (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) was 8th overall in 22:58 and sophomore Karizma Brown (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) was 9th overall in 23:10.
