Mercer women's cross country finished 9th out of 20 teams at the Highlander XC Challenge hosted by NJIT at Branch Brook Park. The Vikings finished with a score of 258, significantly ahead of Region 19 opponents, Del Tech Stanton at 314 points and Essex at 343 points. Sophomore Sage Southard (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) led the Vikings with a 27th place finish in 20:40 on the 5K course. Freshman Lismarie Godinez (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) finished in 46th place in 21:15 and freshman Mani Rivera-Kissling (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 55th place in 21:34. The Vikings had four other freshmen runners place in the top 100: Jacqueline Leszynski (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) 83rd in 22:53, Veronica Wise (Burlington Twp., NJ/Burlington Twp.) 85th in 23:04, Maria Ramos (Hopewell, NJ/Modern Mexico Institute of Technology) 88th in 23:12 and Breanna Santini (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) 93rd in 23:17.
