Region 19 Championship @ White Clay Creek State Park

Mercer women's cross country won their second straight Region 19 Championship as they took first place in the meet held at White Clay Creek State Park.  Mercer finished with 23 points ahead of second place Essex, who had 48 points and third place Del Tech, who had 59 points.  Freshman Hayley Baydar (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) won the Region 19 race in a time of 19:59 on the 5K course, eight seconds ahead of Essex's Andrea Foster, who took second place in 20:07.  Freshman Laura Gould (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) finished 3rd in 21:19, freshman Claudia Baydar (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was 4th in 22:01 and freshman Olivia Reiss (Perrineville, NJ/Mercer VoTech) was 5th in 22:05.  Hayley and Claudia Baydar, Gould, and Reiss all earned All-Region Honors for finishing in the top 7.  Sophomore Maria Ramos (Ewing, NJ/Modern Mexico Institute of Technology) finished in 10th place overall with a time of 25:00.  With the win, the Vikings will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Saturday, November 11th.
