Career Services at the James Kerney Campus
The friendly staff in the Career Services Office at the James
Kerney Campus, located on the first floor of the CC building,provides:
- Leads to full time and part-time jobs
- Step-by-step job information and advice
Our success rate for job placements is over 80%.
Students return and refer their friends to us. We welcome the opportunity
to help you with your company's staffing needs or aid you in your search
for employment.
Meet the Staff
Robert Estok, coordinator, maintains constant contact with companies that have job openings.
Career counselor Linda Levitt offers workshops and step-by-step job information and advice.
Elva Heinold, who is bilingual in English and Spanish, is the
NJ One-Stop Career Center representative on campus.

Job Leads
Employers at large corporations and small companies and individuals
offering jobs mail, fax, and call in job leads to us. Local newspapers
and our connections to temp agencies also help us to find employment for
you. The NJ
One-Stop Career Center (formerly New Jersey Employment Service) provides
job leads as well.
You can find out about full-time jobs by visiting Bob Estok (CC 146)
or Elva Heinold (CC 143). You can see Linda Levitt (CC 147) to discuss
part-time job opportunities.
Your resume can be sent or faxed to prospective employers from the office.

Job Information and Advice
To prepare for employment, you can attend:
- free workshops
on job search techniques.
- half-day seminars on timely topics such as stress
management, budget management, sexual harassment, dressing for success,
etc. The guest speakers work in personnel offices in large corporations
or in temp agencies or are lawyers and CPAs from the community.

Resources on the James Kerney Campus
The computers in our state-of-the-art lab offer:
- internet access
- new resume writing programs
- Resume Wizard, a program which guides you through a series of templates
and choices to select the most appropriate resume format.
The wonderful interactive program, Discover, enables you to:
- take interest, value and/or ability inventories to discover potential career
arenas that best fit your interests
- explore various job titles: the duties they entail, job outlook over the
next several years, salary range, pros and cons of the particular job,
etc.
- connect career paths to institutions of higher learning which offer degrees
or training in particular fields
- develop job-seeking skills
- deal with changes in life or career roles
