10/19/06

Natalia Huff of Hamilton, a 2006 graduate of Mercer County Community College, was presented with the 2006 Student-Athlete Award by the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey (CAANJ) at the organization's annual conference in Somerset on Oct. 18. She was selected from among all female student-athletes who attend community colleges in New Jersey. MCCC Athletic Director John Simone and tennis coach Marc Vecchiolla attended the ceremony with her.

Huff graduated from Mercer in May with an A.A. in International Studies, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She played #1 singles and #1 doubles on the 2005-2006 Mercer County Community College women's tennis team, which came in second in the nation; during the 2004-05 season, she played #3 singles and #2 doubles on the team that won the national championship.

A native of Poland, Huff came to the United States as a teenager, graduating from Lawrence High School in 2004. "I am honored to be the recipient of this award and to have been part of the tennis program at Mercer County Community College," Huff said. "It was a great adventure. I couldn't have done it without the support of my family and of two great men, Athletics Director John Simone and my coach, Marc Vecchiolla. They believed in me."

Huff is an account executive assistant for a financial firm in Mercerville and is pursuing her bachelor's degree in finance and global business at Rider University.
