11/13/06

Even before playing his first basketball game of the 2006-07 season, Mercer County Community College's 6'8" center Jores Dongo, of Hamilton, was already off to a great start. Dongo, who averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game last year for the Vikings men's basketball team, signed a letter-of-intent on Nov. 8 to play for Division I Stony Brook (NY) University next year.

Then on Nov. 11, he led the way in the Vikings' season opener as Mercer defeated Harford CC (MD) 83-73. Dongo had 23 points and 14 rebounds.

A native of Gabon, Africa, Dongo helped the Vikings to a 22-7 season in 2005-06 and was named to the All-Region and All-GSAC teams. The Vikings also made their first District Tournament appearance since 1998, the first under Head Coach Kelly Williams, who starts his eighth season with the Vikings.
