Mercer County Community College is proud to announce that catcher David Angebranndt has been offered an athletic scholarship from the University of Delaware. This week, he signed a pre-season NCAA Letter of Intent to attend Delaware in the fall of 2009. He is a 2007 graduate of Ewing High School.

In his freshman year with the Vikings, Angebranndt hit .339, going 40-118 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 homerun while driving in 23 RBIs. Behind the plate, he threw out 85 percent of runners attempting to steal. He was named to the All-Region 19 team in 2008 and is expected to play a key role for the Vikings in the upcoming season.

Angebranndt is majoring in Exercise Science at Mercer and plans to study health and physical education at Delaware. He is the second player under Head Coach Matt Wolski to transfer to Delaware; left-handed pitcher Will Blackman transferred to Delaware after last season. MCCC now has three players in Division I. In addition to Blackman, Greg Hough plays for Winthrop University (NC) and Frank Mercurio plays for the University of Pittsburgh.
