Soccer Coaches Lead Clinic
At NSCAA Convention
1/28/10
On
Jan. 15, MCCC's men's soccer coach Charlie Inverso and assistant
coach Larry Povia presented a clinic at the annual convention of
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, held in Philadelphia
from Jan. 13-17. Drawing on their 24 seasons of experience at the
helm of Mercer's top-ranked soccer program, their workshop was entitled:
"The Rise to Prominence of the American Community and Junior
College."
They spoke about
the benefits of playing soccer at the junior college level and the
procedures of junior college soccer compared to those at a four-year
school. They also discussed training procedures, styles of play
and player development. The session concluded with a lively conversation
about the pros and cons of college soccer and ways to improve the
game at the college level.
